ECMC Budapest 2010

European Cycle Messenger Championships is an urban competition for bike messengers. Once in a year, European messengers converge to decide who are the fastest, smartest and trickiest messengers of that year. The mainrace will be held in a closed course and imitates the daily work in the city.
Although, the main race is the most important competition, various other races and events are organized to make all competitors happier and to make the event more colorful and unforgettable. The ECMC is not only a sporting event, rather is a celebration and a social event for bike messengers and all people who love bicycle and love to ride their bikes.
While most of the competitors are bike messengers, events are open to everyone.
ECMC 2010 was in Budapest, Hungary, between 22-24 May, 2010 (Pentecost weekend). The race will took place on two different locations in the city, on the Millenaris Velodrome (22 May) and in the Csepel Művek (23-24 May).
SJ went and took some crappy photos.

WORLD CUP 2010

We love the World Cup. It's the perfect reason to pay attention to soccer. I flat out refuse to call it football. This is America. Football is a sport with an oblong ball in this country. Get it straight.
The World Cup is also a perfect excuse for day time drinking, and watching TV everywhere. Bret snapped this photo at Jane St and W.8th in the West Village.
I don't have cable, so I watch en Espanol. It's my half-assed method of learning a language.
If you hear someone yelling 'GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL' in the background of our office, you'll know why.

Welcome back Dan G!

Samurai welcomes back our very own version of Homer Simpson(minus the hilarious results). As many of you know, a couple months ago, Dan was nearly mauled to death by a deranged taxi driver. This lunatic and his imaginary witness were under the impression that Dan and our friend Bill had set out on some sort of drunken rampage and had one goal in mind: antagonizing taxi drivers. Actually all they were doing was riding home from dinner. Anyway, this psychopath driving a yellow cab, in some sort of vigilante style rage, decided to stand up for his brethren and mow Dan down as if he was a rabid beast. As a result, Dan suffered a broken wrist and was nearly thrown in jail. After not being able to work for several months Dan is finally back on the road sporting a sweet pair of 1980s "street tough" fingerless gloves. All that's missing is a denim vest and one dangly earring. WE PITY THE FOOL!
Just kidding buddy. Its good to have you back.

Austin scored some cranks and a front hub from Minneapolis based bike company, All-City Cycles. All-City specializes in affordable, durable and stylish urban cycling gear. Everything from components to clothing. This guy's always getting free crap! I guess that happens when you win races on a regular basis. He's also one of our top riders. Way to go Austin!

Free sunblock!
After "tweeting" about how bad his neck was getting sunburned our good friend Lindsay Orringer at ABPR hooked Josh up with a free tube of skinceuticals sunscreen. This stuff is like 30 buck a pop. Thats some damn fine sunblock! Way to go Josh! We finally did something useful with twitter!
